Drumroll please! Today we're very proud to announce the culmination of a multi-year effort to re-engineer TurnKey's development infrastructure with the goal of democratizing it so that the project's development toolchain is available to everyone.

The result is TKLDev, the new mother of all TurnKey appliances - a self-contained appliance that can be used to build any appliance (including itself) from source code. If you can handle running make you should be able to handle building an appliance:

root@tkldev ~$ cd core
/turnkey/fab/products/turnkey/core
root@tkldev turnkey/core$ make

TKLDev is available for immediate download:

Thanks to the new infrastructure there is no special sauce, no wizard behind the curtain driving TurnKey development. We're giving Linux geeks everywhere the (super?) power to build any appliance, including Core, from scratch. What you do with it is limited only by your imagination but we're hoping at least a small part of that imagination will go towards helping us improving TurnKey for everyone's benefit.

For more detail you can read the blog post announcement:

TKLDev, like all TurnKey Linux appliances, is 100%y open source. All the source code is hosted on GitHub:
